DIY Decoupage Wooden Pennant Banner Tutorial
Where are my pennant sign lovers at?
If smaller signs are your favorite this is the perfect project. Bonus- you can make 4 pennant signs with the kit used OR string them together for a stunning banner!
Supplies Used:
- Amazing Grace Christian paper decoupage napkins
- Psalms 23 Christian paper decoupage napkins
- All Things Through Christ Christian paper decoupage napkins
- Jesus Loves Me Christian paper decoupage napkins
- Wooden Pennant Banner Signs
SUPPLIES TO GATHER:
- Scissors
- Cup of water
- Paper towel or napkin
- Ziploc bag or saran wrap
I started by decoupaging the background I wanted to use for the Psalms 23 verse to the first of the four wooden pennants. Once dry I carefully edged the design with my fingernails using the wooden canvas as guide to tear the paper.
Before I applied the design I used the end of my paint brush to poke the holes through the front of the pennant so I could string it later. Then I applied one more light coat of mod podge to seal.
Next I used the tearing method to edge around the verse wording I wanted to feature. (Make sure you also separate the ply of the napkin so that you only get the top layer).
TIP: Use a zip lock bag to smooth out the design wording from the inside out
After the the words were as smooth as I wanted I applied a last coat of mod podge to seal and let it dry.
From there you can add whatever embellishments or simply add your jute string to hang.
For a full banner of 4 pennants, repeat the same process with pennant and string together. Don't forget to loop knot the ends so you can hang!
If you try this project I'd love to see it!
